The Chinon 50mm f/1.7 Macro is a Japanese standard prime with close-focusing capability made in M42 mount by Chinon. It combined a fast normal-lens aperture with an extended close-focus range, offering a versatile everyday-plus-close-up lens in the Chinon screw-mount range.

This is a manual-focus M42 screw-mount lens with a 50mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/1.7, with an extended focus range for close-up work rather than a true 1:1 macro. Focus and aperture are set by hand on the barrel, with an automatic diaphragm. It is a compact all-metal prime.
