Contax's electronic SLR — the 139 Quartz with Contax/Yashica mount for Zeiss lenses.

The Contax 139 Quartz is a 35mm film SLR camera produced by Yashica under the Contax brand, introduced in 1979 as an entry-level member of the Contax/Yashica system. It uses the Contax/Yashica (C/Y) bayonet mount, compatible with both Contax and Yashica lenses including the celebrated Carl Zeiss lenses produced for the system.

The 139 Quartz uses a 35mm film transport, the C/Y bayonet for all Contax and Yashica-brand lenses, a quartz-controlled electronic shutter for accurate timing (the Quartz designation refers to this), centre-weighted TTL metering, and aperture-priority auto-exposure alongside manual operation.

The Contax 139 was the most affordable entry point into the Contax/Yashica system, which was otherwise expensive due to the Carl Zeiss T* lenses that were the system's main selling point. The C/Y mount is popular today for adaptation to Sony E, Micro Four Thirds, and other mirrorless systems, making C/Y Zeiss lenses accessible to modern shooters.
