The Konica Hexar was a premium fixed-lens compact 35mm film camera introduced in 1992, noted for its near-silent shutter mechanism and high-quality 35mm f/2 Hexar lens. It was popular with street photographers and documentary workers for its discreet operation, and is considered a cult camera in the 35mm compact market.

The Hexar's defining feature is its near-silent shutter mode, making it significantly quieter than most mechanical SLRs and comparable to the Leica M for discreet photography. The 35mm f/2 lens delivers sharp results from f/2.8 and excellent performance by f/4. Autofocus is accurate but slow by modern standards. A sought-after compact for film shooters.

Test the Silent mode shutter — it is more reliable on some copies than others. Check autofocus accuracy at near and mid distances. Inspect the viewfinder for haze. Battery compartment and contacts should be clean. Light seals may need replacement on older examples.
