Minolta Vectis 10 — entry-level APS film compact with 25-50mm zoom, launched 1996

The Minolta Vectis 10 is a compact point-and-shoot from Minolta's Vectis range, built for the Advanced Photo System (APS) that Minolta helped bring to market in 1996. It sat at the simple end of the Vectis compact lineup, below zoom-heavy models, as an entry point into APS photography.

It uses APS cartridges and pairs a 25-50mm, five-element autofocus zoom lens with a built-in flash offering red-eye reduction. Exposure is automatic across an ISO 100-800 DX range, a small LCD panel and optical viewfinder handle framing and status, a 10-second self-timer is built in, and mid-roll film changes are possible.

APS let the Vectis 10 automate film loading and offer switchable Classic, HDTV and Panoramic print formats from magnetic-strip data, novel in the mid-1990s but paired with a smaller negative than 35mm film. It remains fully automatic, with no manual exposure or focus override.

APS film stopped being made in the early 2010s, so the Vectis 10 is now bought mostly as a curiosity or by collectors rather than a working camera. Checks before purchase include the cassette door and drive mechanism, flash operation, battery contact corrosion, and the CR2/CR2025 compartments for leakage.
