Miranda — 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 MC macro telephoto zoom for Canon FD, Olympus OM and Pentax K

This long telephoto zoom belongs to Miranda's post-1978 lineup, sold by UK distributor Dixons as a budget Japanese-made optic rather than a product of the original Miranda Camera Company, which had already gone under. It was pitched at SLR owners wanting affordable reach beyond a standard kit lens.

The MC Macro version is a manual-focus 75-300mm zoom with a variable f/4.5-5.6 maximum aperture, an 8-blade diaphragm closing to f/22, a 58mm filter thread and a claimed minimum focus of about 1.2m; a sample in Canon FD mount weighs approximately 728g. It was also sold in Olympus OM and Pentax K fittings.

Optically it behaves like other consumer-grade 1980s superzooms: usable centre sharpness in the 75-150mm range that softens toward 300mm, with a slow-handling internal helicoid and noticeable aperture drop-off as it is extended toward full telephoto.

Being a slow, non-macro-true budget zoom, it sells cheaply secondhand. Test the zoom action for the barrel creep common to loose-fitting Japanese kit zooms, check for haze or fungus deep in the middle group, and confirm the aperture stays coupled correctly across the full focal range.
