Nikon's original 1-inch sensor mirrorless — fast AF and 10fps burst in a compact body, now discontinued.

The Nikon 1 V1 was released in 2011 as the flagship in Nikon's CX-format mirrorless system, featuring a 10.1MP 1-inch CX sensor (2.7x crop factor) with a built-in 1.44M-dot OLED EVF. The electronic shutter enabled 60fps burst at full resolution — the fastest full-resolution burst of any consumer camera at launch. 1080/30fps video plus super-slow-motion modes at 400fps and 1200fps at reduced resolution. EN-EL15 battery. ~294g body.

The V1's 60fps electronic shutter burst was the landmark specification at launch — enabling capture of fast action at a rate previously exclusive to high-speed machine vision cameras. The CX 2.7x crop factor multiplies the telephoto effective focal length: a 70-300mm equivalent on CX becomes 189-810mm. The small sensor inherently limits depth-of-field control and low-light performance relative to APS-C and full-frame.

On the used market the Nikon 1 V1 is affordable as a vintage Nikon 1 mirrorless. Condition checks: EN-EL15 battery health, built-in EVF condition, and single SD slot. The Nikon 1 system was discontinued — no new lenses are produced. Compatible with Nikon 1 mount lenses.
