The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR was released in 2015 as the first telephoto prime to use Nikon's Phase Fresnel (PF) element technology for Nikon F-mount. Sixteen elements in 10 groups. Nine rounded aperture blades. 77mm filter thread. At 755g. 1.4m MFD. VR rated 4.5 stops.

The Phase Fresnel element is the defining technology: PF uses concentric circular microstructures engraved on a glass surface that produce diffraction-based light bending, supplementing conventional refraction.
