The Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/2 Ai is a standard prime for the Nikon F mount with Automatic Indexing (Ai) coupling. The Ai coupling tab allows open-aperture metering without manually stopping down — introduced 1977. The Ai version of the 50mm f/2 standard prime. Nikon F mount.

f/2 maximum aperture. 50mm focal length (full-frame standard prime). Ai coupling (automatic aperture indexing). Manual focus. At approximately 200g. Nikon F mount.

The Nikkor 50mm f/2 Ai provides open-aperture metering on Ai-compatible Nikon bodies — the AI coupling tab on the aperture ring communicates the aperture setting to the camera for accurate TTL metering.
