Nikon's professional tilt-shift 24mm for architecture — ED glass with perspective correction and tilt movements.

The Nikon PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED was released in 2008 as a tilt-shift lens for Nikon F-mount, providing ±8.5° of tilt and ±11.5mm of shift with electromagnetic aperture control (PC-E designation). Three ED and three aspherical elements control aberrations across the tilt-shift movement range. At 730g and 77mm filter thread. Manual focus. Compatible with Nikon F bodies that support electromagnetic aperture (D3-era bodies onward).

The optical design uses 13 elements in 10 groups including 3 ED and 3 aspherical elements. Nine rounded aperture blades. The 77mm filter thread. At 730g the lens is moderate. Tilt range ±8.5°. Shift range ±11.5mm. Manual focus only. PC-E electromagnetic diaphragm — aperture controlled electronically via camera body. Compatible with D3-series and later Nikon F bodies with EM diaphragm support.

Tilt-shift functionality serves two distinct uses: shift corrects converging verticals in architectural and real estate photography by moving the optical axis without tilting the camera; tilt controls the plane of focus (Scheimpflug principle) for selective focus effects and maximum depth of field across an angled subject plane. The 24mm focal length is well-suited to interior architecture where shift up corrects tall building verticals, and the 0.2m MFD enables close environmental wide-angle frames.
