The Pentax LX, introduced in 1980, was Pentax's professional-grade 35mm SLR and remained in production until 1997 with incremental updates. It featured a titanium-alloy shutter, modular viewfinder system, aperture-priority auto-exposure, and environmental sealing against dust and light moisture. It was positioned to compete with the Nikon F3 and Canon F-1 for professional use.
