Sigma's stabilised APS-C superzoom — 27-300mm equiv with OS in a compact package for Canon DSLRs.

The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (original non-HSM version, ~2007-2008) is an APS-C superzoom for Canon EF-S mount, covering 27-300mm equivalent with Optical Stabilisation. Eighteen elements in 13 groups. Seven aperture blades. 72mm filter thread. At 610g. 0.45m MFD.

The optical design uses 18 elements in 13 groups. Seven aperture blades. The 72mm filter thread. At 610g the lens is moderate for an 11.1× zoom. Minimum focus distance of 0.45m. OS optical stabilisation. Conventional AF drive (non-HSM). Variable aperture from f/3.5 at 18mm to f/6.3 at 200mm. APS-C image circle (DC designation). Canon EF-S mount.

The original DC OS (without HSM) uses a conventional micro-motor for autofocus rather than the quieter HSM found in later versions — the AF is audible during operation, making it less suited to video recording. The 72mm filter thread is larger than some competing superzoom designs. The later DC OS HSM and OS HSM Contemporary versions use quieter motors and improved coatings.

On the used market the Sigma 18-200mm DC OS original is very affordable as a vintage APS-C superzoom. Condition checks: conventional AF motor response (audible), OS engagement, 72mm front element for marks, zoom ring smoothness. DC = APS-C only. Compatible with Canon EF-S APS-C bodies.
